Border Lost

Official Synopsis:
Thousands of people cross the border each day only to find themselves preyed upon by vicious criminals. In order to stop the violence and bloodshed, an elite task force is put together to try and protect the unprotected. But, when the operation is shut down due to politics and red tape, all hell breaks loose as the newly emboldened “bandeleros” expand their ruthless reign of terror. Now, with one of their own murdered and another missing, three agents decide to take the law into their own hands. Each driven by his own convictions, these unsung heroes risk their lives to exact justice – and vengeance – in this gripping tale full of love, loss and bravery.

Our Take:
Without a doubt, our porous borders are both a security threat and a drain on our economy and Border Lost is aimed at tapping into a rising resentment that has raised the issue to national debate. It is not a very good movie, unfortunately, and if the producers were hoping to make a statement it won’t be a very loud statement because this is a movie that people will stay away from in droves.

The movie bothers me in a basic way because of the question of whether taxpayers should be paying to protect people trying to sneak into the country, when many Americans wish there were more police patrolling their neighborhoods. This is an issue that’s ignored in the film. I understand it’s just a movie but, really, what are the chances that three cops are going to take off to Mexico on a whim to avenge a colleague? Wouldn’t they lose their jobs if they just up and vanished for a week to chase bad guys in Mexico? And the idea that the three oh-so-white American cops are able to locate one bandit in a nation infested with criminals and defeat an overwhelming numbers advantage to rescue the pretty woman and return home (all alive, by the way) is too much of a stretch.

There are no extra features on the DVD.

The plot stinks and the acting stinks; don’t waste your time or money watching Border Lost.
