Our Take:
When you can predict what’s going to happen in a movie but still enjoy watching it, I would say that that’s a good movie and that about sums up The Cutting Edge: Chasing the Dream. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that the attractive, tough-talking female hockey player will overcome her lack of training to compete on the national figure skating scene, or that she and the handsome male skater will become involved with each other. Of course they do, and they break up and make up and manage to pull off a novel skating trick to win the gold medal while doing so.

The love triangle between Matt Lanter, Francia Raisa and Christy Romano’s characters is well done. The script is well written and the three actors play their parts beautifully. The cast works so well together that I was impressed that these ice skaters could do such a good job of acting. Boy, did I feel foolish when I watched the interview with the director and realize that, of course, they were actors, not skaters, and they did very little of the actual skating. Normally, I pick up on stuff like that and it irritates me but I got so caught up in the plot and so involved with the actors that it just slipped right by me. I guess that’s another mark of an enjoyable film.

Extras included with the DVD are:

* The Making of The Cutting Edge: Chasing the Dream (12 minutes) – The director and cast members talk about the making of the movie and how they became involved with the project.

The Cutting Edge: Chasing the Dream is a touching romance with performances by a talented group of actors and it will be welcomed by most people as a really good movie. This is one of those movies that’s so good you’ll want to watch it more than once.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
