Loaded

Official Synopsis:
Tristan Price (Jesse Metcalfe) has everything: money, privilege, loving parents (Erin Gray, John Bennett Perry), a beautiful girlfriend (Monica Keena) and a bright future. But he has always had a need for something more, something wilder. Enter Sebastian Cole (Corey Large), a handsome, charismatic, ruthless coke dealer with a taste for fast cars, fast women, rapid-fire weapons... and revenge. Soon, Tristan will be up to his eyeballs in a seedy underworld of drugs, sex and violence before he has a clue that his new best friend is, in reality, his worst enemy!

Our Take:
There’s nothing bad about the beginning of Loaded, it’s just that it’s so stock full of ‘average’ that you can’t even remember what movie you’re watching. More and more, these mindless “action” pieces are getting slicker and slicker as far as production goes, but with nothing else to offer. Visually the movie is fine; I’ve seen worse shot films in theatres, it’s the writing that seems to be consistently plunging on these movies. Each one I watch is dumber than the last.

Here we have a rich kid with a perfect life (even he thinks it’s perfect) that gets peer-pressured into running with a bad coke-dealing crew full of tough guys and strippers. Now, although the first third of the film is incredibly boring it’s also filled with strippers and other such party girls in the vein of Girls Gone Wild and while I want to complain about the boringness of it all, for the strippers’ sake, I just can’t.

The saddest part about Loaded is that Vinnie Jones (Snatch, Mean Machine), who's usually so awesome, pops up in what I see as his way of securing the fact that he no longer cares about what kind of movies he makes. I hate it. Vinnie Jones has a presence and he’s throwing it away for whatever reasons he has, probably monetary.

Special features include:

* Behind The Scenes Featurette (11 minutes) – Your basic making-of.

* Gag Reel (2 Minutes).

I can already think of one or two of my friends who would like this movie and they’re the reasons these movies keep being made. Loaded is not for me, it’s not for most of you, but we all know it’s for someone and those someones will dig it.
