Official Synopsis:
Mike says, A few years ago my therapist suggested I keep a journal of all the crazy things that were going on in my life, so that I could keep things in perspective. Around the same time audiences were demanding more material, and I realized that other people might enjoy these stories–so I started sending them out to my mailing list. Now, my Secret Public Journal has become a Comedy Central special and DVD for all the world to see. Not sure this is what my therapist had in mind.
  
Our Take:
Mike Birbiglia had a lot of TV promos running for his Comedy Central special Mike Birbiglia: What I Should Have Said Was Nothing - Tales From My Secret Public Journal and to me, none of them were very funny. So, I decided to forget his name and not watch the special when it aired. As it turned out, I wasn’t able to follow through on that plan as my buddy had DVR’ed it and promised me I would love it. He was right. And I’m here to promise you that you will love it too.

Birbiglia tells stories about himself and his family and the phrase, “It’s funny because it’s true” has never had more merit. This man has some amazing stories ranging from computer porn viruses to building a deck. And every one of them is legitimately funny.

Special features on the disc include:

* Encore (26 minutes) – Bonus concert footage.

* Strictly For Fans (26 minutes) – A documentary on Mike Birbiglia.

The stories told here are pretty universal and the title What I Should Have Said Was Nothing culminates in one of the best bits Mike has going for him. This is definitely a comedy special you don’t want to miss as I believe it will surprise just about anyone who watches it with how funny this man is.
