Our Take:
Having not watched A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila when it aired on MTV, I expected another low-class dating show that would make Rock of Love With Bret Michaels seem like high art. What I found was that, despite the presence of sex, drinking, fighting, and naughty behavior, A Shot at Love at least seems to have its heart in the right place. The first reality show (at least to my knowledge) in which both men and women compete for the affections of a bisexual woman, A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila is instantly addictive television. Seriously, the minute you start watching this show, you absolutely cannot turn away. And by the time one of the jilted contestants completely flips out like you’ve never seen before in episode four, you’re beyond hooked.

The show works because Tila Tequila, who I assumed would be just another vapid internet bimbo, actually has half a brain in her head and seems like a decent person. She’s not obnoxious or conceited, which makes watching her and her show much more endearing. Granted, some of her “emotional” moments seem a little overwrought and dramatic to me, but overall she’s very likable in addition to being quite sexy. Likewise, the contestants run the gamut from crazy and obnoxious to charming and genuine. It’s the kind of mix you need to make a show like this work, and here it does.

Don’t get me wrong, this is still MTV reality television, so there’s plenty of low-class behavior, near nudity, and sexual innuendo. It’s not going to win any “wholesome television” awards any time soon. That being said, the fact that this DVD set is The Complete Uncensored First Season, I should point out that it’s only uncensored in terms of language. Anyone hoping for any extra naughty bits will be disappointed.

Speaking of extra features, here’s what’s included:

* Never-Before-Seen Extended and Deleted Scenes (88 minutes), including:
- Foam Party
- Car Wash
- Strip Club
- Brandi vs. Vanessa Elimination
- Spin the Bottle

A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila: The Complete Uncensored First Season is must-see TV for anyone who likes reality television at all. Personally, I find the genre lots of fun and I know never to take anything I watch seriously, so I had a major blast watching this show. Filled with sexy women, hunky guys, and Miss Tequila herself, A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila has a little something for everyone.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
