Two And A Half Men: The Complete Third Season

Street Date: May 13

Official Synopsis:
Carefree bachelor Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen), his fussy chiropractor brother Alan (Jon Cryer) and Alan’s precocious son Jake (Angus T. Jones) are not your average family, but they make it work. In Two and a Half Men: The Complete Third Season, Charlie romances a beautiful ballet dancer while Alan dates a 22-year-old as well as his overbearing ex-wife. Despite the parade of Kandis, Sandys and Mandis that march in and out of the Malibu pad, the warm heart of the series remains the makeshift family that calls the beach house “home” and the connection between Charlie, Alan and Jake. One of the highlights in the season is that wedding bells will finally ring! Viewers will definitely be surprised with who is actually the happy couple walking down the aisle.

Our Take:
In its third season, Two and a Half Men actually saw the development of some overarching storylines. It’s still a typical half-hour sitcom in the truest sense, and no really specific plot points   carry over from episode to episode for the most part, but the development of relationships for both of the main characters, Alan and Charlie, really gave the show a more cohesive feel here in its third year. With Mia and Charlie set to tie the knot and Alan dating Kandi for a handful of episodes, the show evolved from the woman-of-the-week formula it showcased earlier on. Poor Angus T. Jones, though. That kid just doesn’t get the love that Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer do.

Two and a Half Men: The Complete Third Season continues along with the show as perfectly enjoyable as ever. It’s one of those shows that will never reach the comedic heights of Friends or Everybody Loves Raymond, but it’s fun to watch and it makes me laugh. As I’ve stated time and again when I review sitcoms: all you have to do is make me laugh and I’ll give you a decent review. It’s a nice little bargain we’ve got worked out, and Two and Half Men has lived up to its end.

As with before, we get a few extra features on this newest DVD collection, even if there’s nothing too special to be found.

- Two all-new behind-the-scenes featurettes.
- Deleted Scenes.
- Gag Reel.

As one of the most popular sitcoms in America, Two and a Half Men doesn’t really need my help. Still, it’s a funny show, and I always love having sitcoms on DVD because you can just pop them in anytime. Two and a Half Men may not be comedy genius, but it’s a fun show that’s worth watching.
