Beginning with a suggestion from the audience, a guest monologist tells a story that kicks off a series of high-octane improvised sketches. From medical marijuana to embarrassing sexual encounters, no topic is off limits to the renegade performers who have helped make ASSSSCAT one of the longest running improv shows in the history of the world.
  
Our Take:
I love Upright Citizens Brigade and you should too. If you don’t already own the DVD’s for the UCB, you should run out and purchase them, and while you’re at it you should also pick up ASSSSCAT! Renegade Improv Comedy.

ASSSSCAT! is a videotaping of a few different nights of the UCB’s live improv comedy sketches. All four of the original members (Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts, and Matt Walsh) are on stage as well as a couple of other regulars (Horatio Sanz, Chad Carter, Sean Conroy, and Andrew Daly). Then, to top it all off, there is always a special guest who is featured prominently by performing a few monologues throughout. The special guests included on this disc are: Will Arnett (Poehler’s husband), Ed Helms, Jen Kirkman, Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!), Paul F. Thompkins, and Kate Walsh.

So, not surprisingly, this is beyond great. The ASSSSCAT! special itself runs about an hour (it’s made up of two different shows) and they also throw in a Bonus Round as a separate feature, which acts as more of a compilation from a few different shows and features most of those previously listed special guests. 

Other extras include:

* Upright Citizens Brigade Interview (16 minutes) – The guys and gal talk about the origins of ASSSSCAT! and how long it’s been going on, amongst many other things.

* Monologous Interruptus (4 minutes) – A sabotaged monologue.

* We Love Our Audience (4 minutes) – The performers interact with the audience a bit.

* The ASSSCAT Theme – A picture of what I assume to be an “ASSSSCAT” appears on screen as their theme song plays.

* Commentary By The UCB.

This is a truly great disc. Everything about ASSSSCAT! is great. Obviously, there are a ton of these skits videotaped out there somewhere and my only issue is, why not put out as many of these as possible? You know the fans want to see it.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
