Official Synopsis: "Nice planet...when do we eat?" Alf slides into home with all the wackiness you'd expect from the Starman of Melmac! Between being convinced that Elvis lives next door, and hosting an hour of unforgettable guest appearances on The Tonight Show, the world's most favorite cat-loving, cosmic comedian continues to capture our craving for craziness in this zany third season. Be there or be square!
Our Take: When a sitcom is based on a truly wacky gimmick, it tends to have a shorter shelf life than many shows. True, series like ALF and 3rd Rock From the Sun had decent runs, but typically, after they flare up really brightly, they start to deteriorate in terms of quality. ALF Season 3 isn't a bad season, as the show still had some legs, but it wasn't television greatness. Witness episodes like the two-parter that features ALF hosting The Tonight Show with Ed McMahon. Funny in parts, but also a bit of a stretch.
ALF Season Three is a four disc set that includes all 26 episodes from the season. There are no real extra features, but in addition to the episodes being remastered, the menus are hosted by ALF himself. They're fairly amusing, and, while short, count as a bonus of sorts.
While I would have liked to see Lionsgate go all out on these sets, this is still a sitcom from the 80's we're talking about here, and those don't always warrant the royal treatment. Recommended for fans of the show.
