Official Synopsis: In this Emmy®-winning comedy's hilarious third season, Michael Bluth finally realizes that it's his Uncle Oscar serving time in prison, not his father. Reluctant to spring Oscar due to the effect it may have on the family business, Michael decides that the only fair thing to do is to find his father and place him under house arrest. Yet once found, George Sr. insists he was tricked into working with the Iraqis, leaving Michael no choice but to investigate his father's outrageous claim. But it isn't until Michael and Buster go to Iraq on a rescue mission to save Gob that the depth of the devious plot is revealed...and Michael learns which family member is the real brains behind all the madness.
Our Take: Arrest Report Case Number: MA 09/05/06/3462 Incident: Arrested Development – Season Three Reporting Officer: Constable Chris Lawrence Date of Report: 12 September 2006 At about 1040 hours on the 5th of September 2006, I sat down and began watching the FOX broadcasting network series: Arrested Development third season DVD release. Upon initial viewing of this series, I had never before seen a single episode so I was entering into an unknown area. My first reaction was hostile; I felt like I was ready to hate the show after about ten minutes. However, I kept pressing on and after some tough negotiations, I realized that Arrested Development was a show worthy of my attention. Witnesses describe the show as a mix of dry, witty humor, old fashioned raunchy humor, and a pinch of the absurd. After using my French connection, I was able to round up the usual suspects and decipher which lethal weapon was used in the making of this show. It’s as if someone took The Royal Tenenbaums, and turned it into a television series; that might resemble something like Arrested Development. It’s filled with quirky characters, expositive narration, and wonderful writing. While not an easily accessible show, if you give it time, you’ll be sure to enjoy the style of comedy. I obtained a sworn statement from Jason Bateman, who stars as the prodigal son and savior of the dysfunctional Bluth family. He told me all about his corrupt father, played by Jeffrey Michael Tambor, as well as his twin sister portrayed by Portia de Rossi and her husband, played by David Cross. Also coming forward as witnesses were Scott Baio, Justine Bateman, Henry Winkler, James Lipton and Charlize Theron. I will submit their sworn depositions later in a later report. I would also like to submit as evidence the following special features included on this 2-disc set. - Audio commentary: Commentaries on select episodes by series creator Mitchell Hurwitz, and stars Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, David Cross, Tony Hale, Portia de Rossi, Alia Shawkat and Jessica Walter. These three commentaries fall in the entertaining more than the educational category, but honestly, considering the tone of this show, they are terrific. - Deleted/Extended Scenes (14 minutes): Found on both discs, some of these scenes were cut rightfully so, but most are still worth checking out. - Blooper Reel (7 minutes): Look for the cast in rare form in this uncut gag reel where we get to see what happens when people stop being polite and start being real. - The Last Day on Location (8 minutes): Take a look behind the scenes at the making of the last episode. Featuring interviews with cast and crew, it’s a nice finishing touch on a show that still had a lot of life left in it. I hereby submit this report to the Department of Criminal Justice. All evidence points to the fact that Arrested Development is innocent of all charges and the only guilty parties are FOX Broadcasting Network for canceling this series, and anyone who fails to immediately purchase this hilarious set.
